- The White House is using Nicole Kidman’s iconic AMC ad to promote a “golden era” of MAGA.
- A video parodying the original ad used the music and imagery to rally Trump supporters.
- “We come to this place for MAGA,” a narrator states, mirroring Kidman’s opening line: “We come to this place for magic.”
Is nothing sacred?
Over the years, Nicole Kidman’s AMC Theatres ad has evolved from pandemic fever dream to hilarious meme to oddly beloved staple of the theatrical experience. So naturally, the Trump administration has found a way to co-opt the popular video for its own agenda.
On Monday, the White House posted a parody of the ad, which appears to have been created with generative AI. Following the beats of the OG commercial, the ad trades an AMC theater for the White House and features a man wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat in Kidman’s place.
It opens with a rain puddle reflection of the White House and features the same orchestral music used in the AMC campaign as the man enters the official home of the U.S. president.

“We come to this place for MAGA,” the narrator declares, a riff on Kidman’s opening line, “We come to this place for magic.”
Instead of encouraging theatergoers to “laugh,” “cry” and “care,” like the ad that still plays before AMC-screened movies five years after its debut, the White House video tells viewers to “fight” and “win,” adding, “Because we need that, all of us.”

Copying other lines from the original, the narrator goes on to reference, “The indescribable feeling we get when we hear the national anthem…”
In place of Kidman sitting back in amazement for a cinematic experience, the anonymous MAGA man stands in the White House watching a projection of President Trump.
The narrator continues, “Under this administration, we’re going somewhere we’ve never been. We aren’t just watching history; we’re making it. Rebuilding our country better than ever. A country where we don’t do heartbreak — we do victory.”
The video concludes by stealing the AMC Theatres logo font for an end title card that reads, “MAGA: Welcome to the Golden Age.”
Representatives for Kidman and AMC Theatres did not immediately respond to* *’s request for comment.
Kidman’s viral commercial for the company has inspired countless memes and parodies since its debut in September 2021, including on *The Boys* and *Saturday Night Live*. It was initially implemented after the pandemic to remind moviegoers of the value of cinema and saw Kidman proclaim her love for “dazzling images on a huge silver screen,” and relish that “somehow, heartbreak feels good in a place like this.”

The ad certainly succeeded in catching the eye of moviegoers and has remained part of the chain’s preview reel in addition to inspiring memes, Halloween costumes, and plenty of recreations.
