Tiger Woods sent a text to one of LPGA Tour legend Dottie Pepper's best friends that kept her alive for half a year longer.

15-time major winner Woods left the country for a rehab stint following his high-profile DUI arrest in Florida in late March, causing him to miss the Masters as he was hoping to make an appearance after teeing off in TGL.

Pepper won 17 LPGA Tour events throughout her career, earning over $6.8 million during her career, and she revealed that Woods literally put a new life into one of her best friends.

"Two years ago, I lost one of my dearest friends from high school," she said on the Talk Birdie To Me podcast.

"Competitive athlete, lawyer; she would call me on the carpet if I was being an idiot. She passed away from a very rare form of cancer. But she took up golf because she loved the fight in Tiger Woods.

"I don't even have Tiger's number in my phone. I called in a favor through [Ian Baker-Finch], because I knew Tiger meant so much to my friend Kim Galvin.

Woods' personal life is usually kept private by the 82-time PGA Tour winner, as he has been involved in many scandals, including DUI arrests and troubled relationships with significant others in the past.

"Some of my favorite Tiger memories had nothing to do with him winning golf tournaments," Pepper added. "It was as Tiger as a human being. It was talking about his dogs, or having the sweat running down every crevice in your body. It was the moment the facade started to crack. That's what I loved about covering Tiger."

Woods and his parents founded the TGR Foundation in November 1996, and the 15-time major winner has contributed to learning centers and communities to help those in need in the past.

Despite Woods' willingness to give, the legendary golfer has had some recent issues, as he flipped his vehicle near his home in Florida and officers found two opioids in his pocket just before the Masters tournament.

"I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today," Woods wrote in a statement.

"I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery. I'm committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time."
