Mark Zuckerberg has his profile picture — on the big screen.
Sony debuted the trailer for Aaron Sorkin's Facebook drama *The Social Reckoning* on Wednesday, sharing a look at *Succession* star Jeremy Strong as the billionaire Meta CEO.
In the teaser for the follow-up to 2010's *The Social Network*, Strong's Zuckerberg is facing the heat from the events that gave rise to the *Wall Street Journal*’s shocking exposé "The Facebook Files."
The film is inspired by the true story of young Facebook engineer Frances Haugen (Mikey Madison), who enlists the help of reporter Jeff Horwitz (White) "to go on a dangerous journey that ends up blowing the whistle on the social network’s most guarded secrets," per the official synopsis.
The movie also stars Wunmi Mosaku, Betty Gilpin, Billy Magnussen, and Bill Burr.
In the trailer, Strong's Zuckerberg comes into focus during a deposition when he's asked to state his name and occupation. "I'm a professional defendant," he declares.
As Haugen and Horwtiz discuss her case, an advisor, played by Burr, gives Zuckerberg some tough love. "These guys are counting on the next run of congressional testimony to make you likable, Mark," he said. "I'm happy to lend a hand, but I think you're doomed."

Later, Zuckerberg defends the persistence of misinformation on Facebook. "I'm a free speech absolutist," he says sternly. "I'm not the one who's lying, and I'm not stopping them from seeing someone who is."
The humorless CEO also aims to show the world who's boss. "People around here understand that when I say no, that's the end of the debate," he says. "I'm not two years out of a dorm room anymore, Charlie. Look around."
The trailer ends with a music cue from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' score from *The Social Network*.

At CinemaCon 2026 in April, the same footage from *The Social Reckoning *was shared.
Sorkin appeared on stage at Caesar's Palace to tease the film's stakes. "A while back, we told a story about a college kid who built a website in his dorm and connected the world," the screenwriter said. "Well, as you might have noticed, a couple of things have changed since that dream exploded into a global corporation. There's no life that Facebook's algorithm hasn't touched, and that influence has reshaped everything. So it's time to say more."
The film is being described as a "companion piece" to David Fincher's *The Social Network* — for which Sorkin won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.

The film won Oscars for its screenplay, editing, and score, and is widely considered one of the best films of the 21st century.
Strong previously told *THR* that *The Social Reckoning* has "one of the great scripts I've ever read," adding, "It speaks to our time, it touches the third rail of everything happening in our world."

The *Apprentice* star also distanced his performance from Eisenberg's version of the controversial CEO, opining, "No, I think that has nothing to do with what I'm going to do."
