A 17-year-old teenager suffered a seizure and fell into a coma after being beaten up by San Antonio Spurs fans livestreaming outside Madison Square Garden following Game 4 of the NBA Finals, the NYPD alleges.
The incident unfolded at about 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, on West 35th Street, just two blocks from Madison Square Garden and right after the Knicks defeated the Spurs in a historic comeback, police said in a statement.
In the livestream video, which was reviewed by PEOPLE, a man decked out in Spurs colors is seen shouting "Spurs in 7" within a massive crowd of excited Knicks fans. Someone shouted back "F--- the Spurs, suck my d---," which caused a chain reaction that led the streamer and others to start throwing punches.
The 17-year-old was punched and kicked in the head, a police source tells PEOPLE.
The boy eventually suffered a seizure, then went into a coma, police said. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he is no longer in a coma and was listed in critical but stable condition, per the source.
The streamer and others allegedly involved are wanted by the NYPD for gang assault but have not been caught, per police.

The Knicks defeated the Spurs at home in Game 4 after being down by as many as 29 points earlier in the game, representing the largest comeback in NBA Finals history. The Knicks will return to San Antonio on Saturday night for Game 5, where they could clinch their first NBA championship since 1973.
Despite the massive security presence and perimeter, thousands of fans have come out to celebrate in the area near the Garden before, during and after the games. The celebrations have been at times chaotic: after Game 4, the NYPD said officers took 56 people into custody on charges including assault on a police officer and weapons possession.

Fans were seen climbing onto and attempting to flip over a taxi, igniting fireworks, throwing glass bottles and getting into fights, police allege. Some were even seen breaking into a truck, stealing the contents inside and throwing them at officers and into crowds.
Viral videos have shown fans breaking taxi windshields, throwing Citi Bikes and ripping street signs out of the ground. Some videos have shown Knicks fans ripping the jerseys off of Spurs fans, and in one case allegedly beating up the wearer.
Watch parties outside MSG were canceled for both of the home games in New York this week.
