The twisted mind behind *The Human Centipede* is ready to shock audiences one last time.

Tom Six, the Dutch filmmaker who created the iconic body horror trilogy, is ready to release his final film, *The End of Tom Six*, and * *has your exclusive first look.

Described as a darkly funny documentary and “the most self-deprecating satire you’ll ever see,” Six shot the film during a years-long secret battle with multiple sclerosis. (*Variety* was first to report the news of Six’s illness and the film’s release date last week.)

“How many filmmakers strutting across fancy red carpets would literally give their life for a movie?” he wonders in a letter to EW about the film, which features “a hilarious, darkly funny censor-Nazi who embodies everything wrong with today’s film climate.”

Despite the challenges presented by the autoimmune disease, Six says, “My internal rage towards the political agendas—and correctness that is choking the film industry, plus an obsessive need to create one final time, kept me going.”

Six goes on to say that “the tortured artist is not a myth,” and that he channeled “true suffering” into what will be his final film*. “*I believe the documentary can inspire millions of people living with MS or other debilitating diseases,” he notes. “Dark humor keeps a lot of us moving.”

The director says he was diagnosed with MS 14 years ago, but that when he failed to find a “serious distributor” for his 2019 movie *The Onania Club*, the disease “grabbed its chance and wrecked me both mentally and physically.” (The controversial film tells the story of a group of women in Los Angeles who get aroused by the misery of others.)

Six says he has since become “a full-blown recluse,” comparing himself to late aviator and filmmaker Howard Hughes, “only without the billions, the OCD, or germaphobia.”

“I now literally live on my beautiful Chinese opium bed because I can no longer walk,” he adds. “I crawled through my home, exhausted and in enormous pain, for roughly an hour a day to make this documentary. With absolutely nothing—no crew, no professional equipment—just extreme creativity and my girlfriend Maartje Willems.”

In the movie, Six plays a character aptly named Director, alongside Willems, who plays Marci. Servaes Nelissen plays the role of Censor Nazi, while Edwin Alofs appears as Camera Guy. Demian Kurosa rounds out the cast as First Assistant Director.

Six says he spent a month hand-drawing the film’s official poster (below), which represents a darkly funny fever-dream scene.

“Life is a sadistic joke, and we are all walking on thin ice,” he writes, concluding his letter. “Humanity is rotten; MS (misery sells) and the algorithms know it. In the end, we are all temporary micro-organisms squirming around in an infinite cosmic soup. I am simply giving it my all, till my guillotine will fall.”

Six is releasing *The End of Tom Six *independently on Aug. 15 via YouTube through a pay-what-you-want model. The movie will also be available on DVD.
