Role Model copped an invite to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s New York City wedding — but *Chuck Timely & The Hourglass *forced him to miss the nuptials.

“I couldn’t go,” the singer said during an interview with *NYLON*, published on Aug. 4. “I was busy in the middle of an album rollout, but it looked amazing.”

Role Model (real name is Tucker Pillsbury) is gearing up to drop his highly anticipated third album on Aug. 7. While the singer wasn’t able to attend Swift and Kelce’s wedding on July 3, he has been to a few. One even inspired the aptly named song “The Wedding,” set to be released on Friday.

The Maine native told *NYLON* on Tuesday that he was “weirdly moved” by attending his first wedding as an adult last year, leading him to pen the track. Role Model was initially turned off by the idea of marriage. However, watching a couple exchange their vows changed his tune.

“Marriage is not that romantic to me,” he admitted. “Being with someone for life is romantic to me. But the whole idea of going into a church and inviting all these people? … That was never attractive to me. Then I went to my first wedding, and I cried.”

The emotions came from “watching people’s lives move on,” Role Model said, explaining that he was at a standstill in his own life at the time. The “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out” singer received “a double whammy” of realness when his sister got married. “That one also kicked my ass,” he admitted.

Role Model told *Nylon *that “every year” he’s faced with a bout of self-reflection and often yearns for a sense of “normalcy” that only his Maine hometown can give.

“I have a bit of a crisis of like, ‘What am I doing?’ I miss home a lot as soon as summer starts creeping up, and it’s hard for me to focus on anything else other than I want to be home,” he said. “I was like, there’s obviously deeper things going on — book me a [therapy] appointment.”

Role Model previously discussed feeling “stagnant” during a “two-year period of being single and dating,” while chatting with *Rolling Stone* in June. This period inspired *Chuck Timely & The Hourglass*. The title refers to a “pathetic” yet “charming” fictional character, Chuck Timely, created by Role Model.

“I’m also now at the age where everyone’s getting married around me, and I’ve just started going to weddings as an adult for the first time last year,” he told *Rolling Stone*. “I wanted to represent this character that I came up with as well as the themes which he represents.”

As for his own love life, Role Model has been making headlines for his connection to Dakota Johnson since late last year. The singer confirmed to *Nylon *on Tuesday that they are together. Although Role Model was apprehensive about it, Johnson does make a cameo on the song “Love I You,” which he debuted during a show in Chicago last week.

“I was like, ‘Stop! We’re not mixing work and relationships.’ She was like, ‘I’ll do it,’ and stood right up and got in the booth and knocked it out better than we could have imagined,” Role Model recalled. “So I was like, ‘OK, if she’s down’ — I mean, that’s an amazing cameo.”

*Chuck Timely & The Hourglass* drops on Aug. 7.
