Perez Hilton’s TikTok account has been banned after his alarming livestream.
On Tuesday, Aug. 4, the 48-year-old blogger was hospitalized after the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) responded to reports of a “possible suicide” attempt at his Miami home. In videos from a livestream, which later circulated on social media, Hilton appeared to self-harm and was covered in blood.
A U.S. spokesperson for TikTok told PEOPLE on Wednesday, Aug. 5 the platform’s automated moderation system flagged the internet personality’s livestream after several minutes and routed it to its moderation team for review, though a moderation error caused a delay in the livestream’s removal.
The spokesperson added that TikTok alerted law enforcement to the livestream, which the spokesperson said lasted roughly 15 minutes.
The account has been deactivated and was subsequently banned by the social media platform, which noted that the content of his livestream related to self-harm violated TikTok’s community guidelines.
According to dispatch audio previously obtained by PEOPLE, authorities received reports of a “possible suicide” at around 6:51 p.m. local time at Hilton’s address. Authorities “made entry” into his home around 11 p.m. and were “en route” to a local hospital around 11:30 p.m., the audio revealed.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office previously confirmed in a statement to PEOPLE on Tuesday that officers were alerted to an individual broadcasting “acts of self-harm” during a livestream. Deputies went to the individual’s home and spoke with his family, who confirmed the person was in the home alone.
MDSO added that the individual was “safely recovered” and brought to a nearby hospital by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, adding that the MDSO Crisis Response Unit and licensed mental health professionals also responded to the scene to provide support to the individual’s family.
On Wednesday, Hilton’s family shared in an update to his website that he was “receiving medical care” and that the family’s “focus right now is on his well-being.”

“We kindly ask that you respect Perez’s privacy, as well as the privacy of his family, during this difficult time,” they added.

In an statement posted to Instagram on Wednesday, Golden Artists Entertainment, representatives for Hilton, shared that they “do not have any additional confirmed information to share regarding Perez Hilton’s condition” after previously stating on Tuesday they had not made “direct contact” with the internet personality “despite our ongoing efforts to reach him.”
“Our focus remains on Perez’s health, recovery, and the privacy of both him and his family during this incredibly difficult time,” the team wrote Wednesday. “We are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from fans, friends, and members of the media. We respectfully ask that everyone continue to honor his privacy while he receives the care he needs.”
Reps have not commented further to PEOPLE.

Bryan Freedman, an attorney and friend who previously represented him for 20 years, told PEOPLE in a statement on Wednesday, “I, like many others, feel very concerned for Mario’s health and I am trying to confirm that he is receiving the care that he needs to fully address the causes and conditions which led to this incident. It feels like a moment that deserves kindness and compassion.”
The incident came four months after Hilton had an emergency surgery following a hospitalization for severe sepsis. In April, the blogger shared an update on social media, telling his fans he could “finally walk again.”
“Thank GOD that I can finally walk again — slowly,” he added in part. “And, though the pain is still very pronounced, I can tolerate it — and do this all without meds. Amen!! Every day will get easier and I will get stronger!!! And so it shall be!”
