Miranda Lambert and Ella Langley may be two of country's biggest stars, but when they get together, things can get a little wild.
During ELLE's Three Generations conversation, released on June 11 and also featuring Reba McEntire, Lambert, 42, and Langley, 27, opened up about their careers, songwriting, mentorship and the bond they've built as friends.
The three artists also discussed navigating a male-dominated industry, taking creative risks, and the importance of women supporting women in country music.

One of the funniest moments came when Langley recalled a recent songwriting session with Lambert that unexpectedly turned into a snake-hunting adventure.
The pair explained that they first connected through mutual friends and eventually began writing together. One of those friends, songwriter Scotch Taylor, once told Langley about Lambert's pet kangaroo, a story she couldn't stop thinking about.
"We wrote one song. I figured we were friends enough," Langley said in the ELLE conversation. "After we got done we were all, you know, getting up, getting a snack. And I was like, 'Miranda, did you have a kangaroo?' And she was like, 'I did.'"

Lambert then shared another memorable story involving the kangaroo.
"I had five dogs in the backseat and a kangaroo in the front," Lambert laughed. "Back home in Oklahoma you can do that stuff."
According to Langley, Lambert was once pulled over while driving with the unusual crew. The police officer became so distracted by the kangaroo that they forgot why they stopped her in the first place. That experience eventually inspired their song, "Choosin' Texas."
The conversation then shifted to one of their more recent writing sessions.
"We were in the middle of a write and I saw a snake. I tried to get up and catch it," Langley explained. "And Miranda walked outside with a shotgun."

"We were at the farm, y'all," Lambert quickly clarified. "We were trying to out-redneck each other. That's what we were doing."
Thankfully, for the snake, things didn't escalate.
"The snake did not get shot at," said Langley. "I scared it off and she was mad at me for that. She's like, 'Dang it, I was right here.'"
Laughing, Lambert turned to McEntire, 71, and asked, "Reba, don't you want to come out and write with us?"
"She didn't tell me she was going to get the gun," Langley said. "She just kind of walked out."
"We won't do snakes and shotguns if you come by with us," Lambert joked to McEntire. "We'll keep it low-key."
"Ice tea?" McEntire asked.
"Something in it, but yeah," Lambert replied.A little something-something in there. Okay," McEntire laughed.
Langley's new album, Dandelion, was released in April 2026. She officially kicked off her tour on May 7, 2026, at the Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio.
Lambert is also actively touring, headlining amphitheater shows, rodeos, and major country music festivals rather than a single, named album tour.
McEntire recently dropped the second installment in her new music capsule series, Hurt Like That – EP, released on May 22, 2026.
