Lowe's teased a potential reunion with Jimmie Johnson ahead of his final race behind the wheel of the iconic No. 48 Chevrolet.
Next year, Johnson - who confirmed he doesn't have any regrets about his "second go" at racing - will make one last NASCAR Cup Series start at the 2027 Daytona 500. Carvana is slated to serve as his primary sponsor for the career-ending race, and has been his main partner throughout his return to competition in Legacy Motor Club's No. 84 Toyota.
It appears as though Lowe's, Johnson's longtime primary sponsor, may additionally contribute in one way or another. Taking to X, the home improvement retailer's official social media page wrote: "@CarvanaRacing need an ally for a last ride? Check your DMs."

During one of the most successful driver-sponsor partnerships in NASCAR history, Johnson won seven NASCAR Cup Series championships, 83 Cup Series races and Two Daytona 500s over 18 years with Lowe's as his exclusive primary sponsor.
Lowe's potential involvement in Johnson's final race - whether through an honorary activation, commemorative initiative or tribute with Carvana - swiftly sent NASCAR fans into a tailspin.

"Thank you Lowes for making me shed tears of nostalgia at 2 pm in the afternoon," one X user wrote, with another adding: "Manifested this months ago. Words can't describe how happy I am as a JJ fan." A third chimed in, "If this happens I will gladly go buy something I don't need at Lowe's."
While making an appearance on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, Johnson admitted that the chances of Lowe's serving as his primary sponsor for next year's Daytona 500 are slim. "I know Hendrick has tried for a long time and I certainly have," he said.
"So you never want to say never with Carvana and our agreement announcement that they're gonna be with me through my final ride in Daytona. I wish there was something there, but that just seems like too far of a reach."
That isn't to say, however, that Johnson isn't open to the idea. In response to Lowe's initial post, he jokingly commented: "Let me put you guys in a group chat."
Even if Lowe's won't be serving as the main partner for his final race, Johnson expressed excitement to close out his career in such a special and commemorative way. "It's an idea that I had, and I knew that it was far-fetched and it'd be complicated and many layers to it," he added.
"But I gave Rick a call and proposed the idea and he's like, 'Yeah, I love it. Let me get to work.' And so with NASCAR and Ally, Alex and all the other important layers, we were able to get that part done, and thrilled to have announced it. [We] have some other layers to come as the race comes closer, and we can put more of this together. But just so excited to know that all I'll be back in that 48 car one last time."
