- Jennifer Lopez really did not like Chloé Zhao's 2020 film, *Nomadland*.

- The actress and singer described the Oscar-winning movie as the "worst type of film" for her.

- "It's not why I go to the movies," Lopez said, noting that she's a fan of musicals and romantic comedies.

It’s safe to say Jennifer Lopez is not among the many people singing the praises of this Oscar-winning film.

On a recent episode of her* **Office Romance* costar Brett Goldstein’s *Films to be Buried With* podcast, the actress and singer was asked to identify the worst movie that she’d ever seen.

“You can tell from my taste in movies, I think, about this, but *Nomadland*,” Lopez replied. “I know that's unpopular. I know… But it's not why I go to the movies.”

Directed by Chloé Zhao, *Nomadland* starred Frances McDormand as a widow who sells her home to spend her life traveling across the United States. The atmospheric drama won big at the 93rd Academy Awards, taking home the award for Best Picture while Zhao won Best Director and McDormand won Best Actress.

Lopez explained on the podcast that, when it comes to films, she prefers musicals and romantic comedies, which *Nomadland* very much isn’t.

“It's a slow-moving thing about grief, and there's no escapism to it,” she confessed. “And I do like some movies like that. Some movies like that would be a bit… But that one, I just didn’t.”

The “Let’s Get Loud” singer also acknowledged McDormand’s star power in the role. “She's amazing. We all know this. There's no surprise there. She deserves all the Oscars,” she said. “But I just, I didn't enjoy it in that sense.”

Lopez added, “It's just not for me. It's just a taste thing. And I know we need movies about grief! I understand! I just don't want to watch ‘em! The same way I don't want to watch horror films!”

Instead, she reiterated that she’d much rather watch an action film or an epic love story play out onscreen.

Still, Lopez hesitated on dubbing it the worst movie she’d ever seen. “It’s hard to say worst because it's a beautiful film. I think a lot of people really enjoyed it. But yeah, that's a hard…,” she said, before ultimately agreeing with Goldstein that it wasn't the worst of all time but rather her personal “worst type of film.”
