The In the City stars are expecting their first baby together, a rep for the couple confirms to PEOPLE. Andrea, 35, and Lexi, 26, are set to welcome their newest addition, a baby girl, this September, and share that they were "completely stunned" about their pregnancy news.

"Last fall, we decided it was time to start trying for a family, something we had always hoped for," Lexi tells PEOPLE. "Over Christmas, while we were spending time with family, I realized my period was a few days late and had a feeling I might be pregnant."

"I took a test on my own because I didn't want us both getting our hopes up too soon, and when it came back positive, I immediately went to find Andrea," she continues. "It was one of those moments you wish you could bottle up forever. We were completely stunned in the best way and filled with gratitude."

They explain that as their baby's due date quickly approaches, things are starting to feel very real.

"It's exciting because every week makes it a little more real, and we're both counting down the days until we finally get to meet our little one," they say.

One of the couple's favorite memories was sharing their exciting news with their family and friends.

"We surprised [our parents] with a small bow containing baby booties and our first ultrasound photo, and watching each of them open it was unforgettable," they say. "There were lots of happy tears and more excitement than we could have imagined."

"Telling our friends was just as special. It's honestly crazy that two of our closest friends and cast mates from In the City, Yvonne and Danielle, are also pregnant, and we're all due around the same time," they continue. "There's something really special about experiencing this season of life together."

"We get to share milestones, swap stories and navigate all the excitement of becoming parents side-by-side, which has made the journey even more meaningful."

Lexi says her pregnancy has been relatively smooth, but she did have a bit of nausea during her first trimester.

"The biggest surprise has actually been how out of breath I get," she says. "I had no idea that was such a common pregnancy symptom. I also went through a phase where I was craving Arby's constantly, which is funny because it's not something I normally eat. Andrea probably deserves some sort of award for all the 40-minute drives he made to satisfy those cravings."

The two also found out that they're having a girl, which they say they're "absolutely thrilled" about.

"We always said we'd be happy either way, but there's been something really fun about imagining the little person she's going to become and who she will look like," they say.

They've also started talking about names and want to find one that is pronounced the same way in English and Italian.

"Since our daughter will grow up between those two languages, that felt important to us," they say. "We found a name we've grown to love, but we're saving that reveal for the big day."

As they get ready to officially become parents, Lexi and Andrea say this is a chapter they've been looking forward to for a while.

"More than anything, we're excited for all the little moments that come with becoming parents and building our own family," they share. "It's also incredibly special knowing we're about to make our parents grandparents."

"We feel incredibly grateful and can't wait to meet our daughter and begin this next adventure together."
