Sarah Pidgeon revealed that her wardrobe to play Carolyn Bessette Kennedy in 'Love Story' gave her "psoriasis all over" her body while shooting a scene in the heat

The actress recalled the style mishap in a new interview

"It's really everywhere," the actress shared

Sarah Pidgeon's transformation into Carolyn Bessette Kennedy wasn't always glamorous.

The 29-year-old actress, who portrayed the late fashion publicist and wife of John F. Kennedy Jr. in Ryan Murphy's Love Story, shared a wardrobe mishap that occurred while filming the FX series.

In a Beauty Secrets video for Vogue shared on Thursday, April 9, Pidgeon recalled filming a scene in Hyannis Port, Mass., which is home to the famous Kennedy family compound.

"When we were shooting Love Story, we were out in Hyannis and I was wearing a cashmere turtleneck and jeans," the actress said. "I got a heat rash because it was like 90 degrees outside, and then that turned into psoriasis all over my body."

She added, "I get it on my chest, get it on my tummy. It's really everywhere. It comes in waves, it'll go away, and you can always cover it up."

Pidgeon previously opened up about her scalp psoriasis in a 2024 interview with Into the Gloss. Elsewhere in the Vogue video, the star noted that going blonde to play Carolyn was tricky because her scalp "can get aggravated" from hair dye.

"I went in to audition for Carolyn with long, dark brown hair, and have since gone blonde, which is a whole process," she said. "We also have to be careful because I have psoriasis, and obviously it's quite an intense treatment, lightening such dark hair."

In a March interview with PEOPLE, celebrity colorist and Schwarzkopf Professional ambassador Kari Hill shared the behind-the-scenes details about Pidgeon's blonde hair transformation.

"Taking Sarah from very dark hair to Carolyn’s blonde was a full transformation — it took over 20 hours in the first session alone," she recalled.

To recreate Carolyn's hair color evolution, Hill used her signature "Foiled Cashmere" technique: a precision foiling method inspired by the fine weave of a cashmere sweater.

"It is not a ‘lived-in’ look that has dominated our modern culture through techniques like balayage or hair painting," she explained.

Hill noted that Schwarzkopf Professional BLONDME® 9+ Premium Lightener was key to the process.

"Its texture allowed me to weave extremely delicate, controlled sections into the foils, almost thread-like, which is essential for building soft contrast without harsh lines. That level of control is what creates a blonde that feels luxurious and expensive — high contrast, but refined," she said.
