Garrett Morris says working with Jennifer Coolidge on 2 Broke Girls was "one of the great privileges of my life."
The pioneering Saturday Night Live alum, who celebrated his 89th birthday on Feb. 1, is looking back at his time on 2 Broke Girls, which aired on CBS for six seasons, from 2011 to 2017.
On the show, which starred Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs, Morris played cashier and musician Earl. Coolidge, 64, appeared as his on-screen friend, Sophie Kaczynsky. Their connection in front of the camera extended to real life.
"Jennifer Coolidge is one of the most beautiful human beings you are ever going to meet," Morris tells PEOPLE. "I guarantee you, you meet her, within 30 minutes, you are in love. She's just that beautiful. One of the most brilliant actors on the scene."

Morris adds that Coolidge is "not trying to upstage anybody" with her work, but "her energy naturally invokes that kind of stuff."
"Quite often I would find myself just watching her work and forgetting my lines — saying, 'Oh s---, I'm supposed to come in now.' That's how good [she is]," he says of Coolidge. "Jennifer, plus Beth and Kat and Jonathan [Kite] and Matthew [Moy], they were all great to work with. But I have to say that working with Jennifer Coolidge is one of the great privileges of my life."

Coolidge previously supported Morris when he earned his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in February 2024. At the time, Coolidge said Morris' "true gift" is "who he is as a human being."
"You're truly one of the most extraordinary people I've ever met," she said. "You are a true gentleman. You're the most elegant gentleman I've ever met and... I'm so lucky to tell you how much I love you, how much you mean to me, what a great friend you are."

While 2 Broke Girls marked Morris' longest stint on a sitcom, he had previously made a name for himself on sitcoms including The Jeffersons and Martin. Before his 89th birthday, Morris told PEOPLE he had no plans to retire anytime soon.
“I just felt if you enjoy your work, why not do it to the best you can in whatever way you are asked to do it until you transform,” he says. “I mean, let's be realistic, there are less roles for an 80 year old who's got arthritis — but there are roles out there.”
He adds, "I just act like time has not passed. I just act like there's got to be a role for somebody who's as old as I am. And usually I'm right. Because every other movie has an old person in it, and they'll get a young actor to do it and put on makeup. Why not get old motherf---ers like me to play the role? We don't have to stretch."
