Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill and Ice Cube are in talks to make a third Jump Street movie, multiple outlets reported

The new movie in the buddy cop franchise is titled 24 Jump Street, a wink and nod to the fact that it has been more than a decade since the last film, skipping over a 23 Jump Street

Tatum and Hill portray cops who go undercover in high school and college, respectively, in the 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street movies

Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill may be making their way back to Jump Street for another round of undercover cop hijinks.

Multipleoutletsreported on Wednesday, June 10, that Tatum, 46, and Hill, 42, are in talks to return for a third installment of their buddy cop comedy franchise for the first time since 2014's 22 Jump Street. Rodney Rothman, who directed 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and wrote the screenplay for 22 Jump Street, is directing the movie from a script he co-wrote with Hill and Meghan Malloy. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who directed the earlier Jump Street movies return to the series as producers. (Lord and Miller most recently took Hollywood by storm with their science fiction movie Project Hail Mary, starring Ryan Gosling.)

Neal H. Moritz, who also produced the earlier Jump Street movies, posted a photo of the movie's script on Instagram on June 10. "A picture says a thousand words!" he wrote in a caption. A tagline for the movie written on the front page of the script additionally read, "It took so long to make we had to skip one," in reference to the fact that there is no 23 Jump Street movie.

Hill and Tatum starred in 2012's 21 Jump Street as a pair of local police officers named Schmidt and Jenko, who are recruited by the titular undercover program to pose as high school students in order to expose a drug ring circulating within the high school. Ice Cube, who plays their superior officer Captain Dickson, is also expected to reprise his role for the sequel, as multiple outlets reported. 22 Jump Street saw the characters perform similar undercover activities in college, with each of the leads getting somewhat lost in their undercover identities along the way.

The Jump Street movies are a reboot of Johnny Depp's 1980s television series of the same name. 22 Jump Street ended with a sequence that teased a number of other scenarios that could take place in the Jump Street franchise that included the pair performing undercover work in medical school, culinary school, firefighter school, seminary and dance school.

All the way back in 2015, it was revealed that plans for a third movie initially would have seen 23 Jump Street make a crossover with the Men in Black franchise. That version of the movie never made it to production, as Variety reported in 2024. Tatum said during a 2024 interview with ComicBook.com that the script for that iteration of the series was "the best script that I've ever read for a third movie" and insisted that he and Hill remained interested in making a three-quel.

Hill is currently making something of a Hollywood comeback. He released a new comedy as a writer-director titled Outcome on Apple TV in April, and he has another project as a writer, director and star titled Cut Off in the works as well. Prior to Outcome, Hill had not acted in a movie since 2023's You People and had not directed any projects since he made the 2022 documentary Stutz and worked on the HBO series Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty.

Tatum most recently appeared on the big screen in last year's Roofman. He also stars in a movie titled Josephine that made its world premiere at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival in January, and he will appear in December's superhero title Avengers: Doomsday as the character Gambit.
