It was only a week ago that Matthieu Blazy brought the who’s who of fashion, art, and entertainment down to one of New York City’s abandoned subway stations for Chanel’s 2026 Métiers d’Art runway show. Inspired by the different characters from NYC, from tourists to locals, the collection balanced high glamour and pristine craftsmanship with everyday down-to-earth fashion. Sitting front row alongside fellow Chanel ambassadors A$AP Rocky and Kristen Stewart, Ayo Edebiri celebrated her new brand partnership (announced in October) in a custom skirt suit and matching bowler hat.
Now, she’s gotten to try out some of the runway looks herself. Stepping out for the NYC premiere of Ella McCay, Edebiri and stylist Danielle Goldberg picked out a full ensemble from the Pre-Fall collection. Finding the tricky balance of elegant glamor and casual nonchalance, the look paired simple blue jeans and an oversize white tee with the most festive of vests.

Designed with a drop-waist silhouette, sleeveless shape, and midi-length hem, the black-and-silver piece was constructed from shimmering floral embellishments and finished with a ribbon tied across the chest in a bow.
For heels, she ventured just a bit outside of the runway styling, with color-blocked pumps in inverted segments of black and white. Her hair was pulled back and she kept her jewelry minimal, save for sculptural Art Deco emerald earrings from the luxury house.

Starring Emma Mackey as a young politician navigating a new chapter of her career in 2008, Ella McCay was directed by James L. Brooks with an impressive cast including Woody Harrelson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kumail Nanjiani, and Edebiri. Edebiri portrayed Susan, the titular role’s brother’s ex-girlfriend.
